Celebration time for TPEG which was formed five years ago this month. This successful group is dedicated to improving the environment within the two villages and has achieved a great deal. New residents may be struck by how litter-free the area is - this is thanks to regular group-led letter-picks and also continued efforts by individual members. Thousands of spring-flowering bulbs have been planted, adding welcome colour to the villages after the long, dreary winter days and the group has received lots of comments of appreciation from residents. Two village boundary stones have been erected and with kind and generous donations by Pilley & Tankersley Golf Challenge and one from a former resident - several benches have been installed. Environmental projects have been carried out including coppicing in Pilley Pocket Park and Potter Holes Plantation and footpath and maintenance also at Potter Holes. TPEG continually lobbies BMBC for environmental improvements. If anyone wants to get involved, the group meets on the second Monday of every month at 7pm at Tankersley Welfare Hall and welcomes new ideas for improving the two villages.
