In early March, representatives from TPEG and the Parish Council joined the Barnsley West Impact Team on their annual walkabout around the villages of Tankersley and Pilley. The invitation to attend the walkabout was extended to tenants and residents’ representatives, as well as the Safer Neighbourhood Team and Neighbourhood Pride.

TPEG was formed in September 2004 and is still working hard to improve the two villages both environmentally and aesthetically.
It continues to hold regular litter-picks which have helped greatly in keeping the area tidy. Extensive bulb planting has brought colour to the verges and from the many complimentary comments from residents, has been much appreciated.
In the next couple of months coppicing will be carried out in Potter Holes Plantation to improve access. The group has also undertaken to clear footpaths in Broad Ings Plantation where some members have already cleared intrusive and damaging ivy from trees.
If anyone has any ideas for improving the environment they are welcome to attend the meetings held on the second Monday of every month at Tankersley Welfare Hall.
Residents can do their bit to help keep the villages looking attractive by clearing litter from their immediate neighbourhood.
